Main courses
Julie Rosen, cookbook committee chairman for the Jewish General Hospital Auxiliary, agrees. Her two books, still available at the hospital's Forget-Me-Not Gift Shop, are Hors d'Oeuvres ($4.50) and Desserts ($6.50) and she and her committee have a third under way on main courses.
Bookstores she approached with the two Kosher cookbooks suggested they would sell copies only on consignment.
"We put in a lot of leg work going from retail store to retail store agruing that they don't take anything else on consignment, so why our books?"...
Rosen's committee of 20 tests all entries, but omits names. "We thought it made the book look like a church basement effort. But we've changed out minds. We've decided it adds to the flavor and in future books we'll use names."
