The included clipping is taken from a larger article that appeared in The Vancouver Sun on 8 April 1981, which noted that the new sixth edition of the Council Cookbook would be launched at the Council's Food-a-Rama event. Pictured is Sadie Seligman who was the co-editor of the sixth edition along with Mariam Warren.
The sixth edition, as the name implies, brings together the "best" recipes from the previous five editions, as well as new recipes.
The Vancouver Sun article notes,
"Tastes have changed so much and people are so much more venturesome in their eating habits now, Sadi (sic) explained, there were all sorts of possibilities for adding to the book. New recipes were contributed by members and friends.
This appears to be a book for the lazy cook. The recipes, apart from certain specialty dishes, are relatively easy to prepare and there's a liberal sprinkling of inexpensive family-style dishes. It's the type of book you would turn to first, when you're in a hurry and wondering what to throw together for supper".
